Terry McDermott was a minor league catcher whose only brief big league experience was at first base late in the 1972 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, when he was 21 years old. He also hit .343 for the El Paso Dodgers that year, and had hit .322 for the Daytona Beach Dodgers in 1970 after having been a 1st-round selection in the 1969 amateur draft.
After baseball he was a sportscaster in New Mexico, worked as a spokesman for Intel, and then became a consultant with Star Group.
