- 1914 - Babe Ruth hits his only minor league home run. The Providence Grays pitcher throws a one-hitter against the Toronto Maple Leafs in addition to his circuit clout against Ellis Johnson.
- 1921 - Walter Johnson (pictured) reaches 2,287 strikeouts, breaking Cy Young's major league record. Johnson's record will stand for over half a century.
- 1951 - Masaichi Kaneda throws the second no-hitter in Central League history.
- 1956 - Joe Bauman hits three home runs to give him 72 for the season to set a new Organized Baseball record, breaking Joe Hauser's mark.
- 1998 - Barry Bonds has his streak of reaching base in 15 consecutive plate appearances end. He breaks Pedro Guerrero's National League record during the impressive run of 9 hits and 6 walks.
