- 1977 - Paddy Livingston dies. He is the last remaining player from the first American League season in 1901.
- 1998 - Kazuhiro Sasaki (pictured) saves his 39th game, a new Nippon Pro Baseball record.
- 2001 - Albert Pujols drives in his 120th run of the season, setting the standard for National League rookies. Wally Berger had driven in 119 in 1930.
