- 1900 - The first American League season ends. The Chicago White Stockings take the title in what will become a major league next year.
- 1984 - Tim Raines steals his 70th base. It is his record fourth straight season of 70 or more.
- 1992 - Koji Akiyama sets a Pacific League record with his eighth straight 30-homer season. Akiyama and teammates Orestes Destrade and Kazuhiro Kiyohara have each hit 30+ three years in a row, also a record.
- 1996 - Roger Clemens fans 20 Tigers to tie his own nine-inning major league game strikeout record.
- 1999 - 36-year-old rookie Jim Morris (pictured) pitches in his first major league game, becoming the oldest rookie since 40-year-old Diomedes Olivo in 1960. Morris's story will be told in a movie.
