- 1907 - Three-Finger Brown tosses a shutout to beat the Tigers, 2-0, and give the Cubs the 1907 World Series.
- 1920 - Stan Coveleski flings a shutout for his third win of the World Series, giving the Indians the title.
- 1967 - Bob Gibson homers, strikes out 10 and allows three hits in a 7-2 win in Game 7 of the World Series as the Cardinals beat the Red Sox.
- 1982 - Paul Molitor sets a World Series record with five hits in Game 1 of the Fall Classic in the Brewers 10-0 win over the Cardinals.
- 1986 - In Game 5 of the ALCS, the Red Sox trail entering the 9th and are on the brink of elimination. With a runner on, Dave Henderson hits a dramatic homer off Donnie Moore (pictured) with two outs to force extra innings as the Red Sox win the game in 11 innings.
