December 20: Today's featured birthday is that of Bill Laskey, who turns 67.
- 1922 - In a famous ruling, the United States Supreme Court declares that baseball is a sport, not a business. This exempts it from antitrust laws.
- 1990 - Rickey Henderson steals his 893rd base in the American League, breaking Ty Cobb's record for the circuit.
- 1991 - Don Schulze of the Orix BlueWave becomes the first Pacific League pitcher to hit a home run since the inception of the DH. He goes deep against Motoyuki Akahori.
- 2000 - A's 2B Randy Velarde turns the 11th unassisted triple play in major league history. He catches a liner by Shane Spencer, tags Jorge Posada then steps on the bag to retire Tino Martinez. Velarde had previously turned an unassisted triple play in spring training.
- 2005 - Tuffy Rhodes (pictured) is ejected from a Nippon Pro Baseball game for the ninth time in his career, breaking the record held by Masaichi Kaneda.
