November 16: Today's featured birthday is that of Hector Fajardo, who turns 54.
- 1925 - Ty Cobb becomes the first player in major league history to reach 1,000 extra-base hits.
- 1930 - Pat Caraway strikes out Joe Sewell (pictured) twice. Sewell had struck out once before during this season and will not fan again this year.
- 1959 - Harvey Haddix pitches arguably the greatest game in baseball history, throwing 12 perfect innings. Unfortunately, Lew Burdette matches him goose egg for goose egg. Felix Mantilla reaches on an error in the 13th and Joe Adcock later doubles to give the Braves the win.
- 1969 - Hank Aaron hits his 500th double, becoming the third major leaguer with 500 doubles and 500 home runs.
- 1997 - Sammy Sosa and Tony Womack both hit inside-the-park home runs in the same inning, the first time it had been done in a major league game in 20 years.
