November 18: Today's featured birthday is that of Dante Bichette, who turns 61.
- 1876 - Ross Barnes (pictured) of the Chicago White Stockings hits a home run to left field. This is the first homer in National League history.
- 1909 - Honus Wagner sets an all-time record by stealing second base, third base and home in the same inning for the fourth time in his career. Only Ty Cobb will match the record and no one will break it.
- 1917 - In the only double no-hitter in major league history, Hippo Vaughn and Fred Toney are untouchable for nine innings. Jim Thorpe drives in Larry Kopf in the 10th to give Toney the victory.
- 1920 - The Negro National League opens with the Indianapolis ABCs beating the Chicago American Giants, 4-2, in the first game in league history.
- 1939 - Lou Gehrig's consecutive game streak is snapped at 2,130 as his health is declining. He will never play again.
- 2002 - Mike Cameron becomes the 13th player in Major League history to hit four home runs in one game and almost connects for a fifth long ball.
