- 1950 - Nishitetsu Clippers shortstop Zenzo Hasegawa has a record five errors in a game in a 21-14 loss to the Tokyu Flyers.
- 1969 - Pitching prospect Nestor Chavez dies in a plane crash in Maracaibo, Zulia.
- 1978 - High-priced free agent Andy Messersmith separates his shoulder in a spring training game. Battling injury, he will go only 0-3 for the Yankees.
- 1985 - Former pitching star Denny McLain is convicted of racketeering, extortion, and cocaine possession in a Florida court and sentenced to 23 years in jail.
