November 16: Today's featured birthday is that of Hector Fajardo, who turns 54.
- 1916 - Bruno Haas walks a major league-record 16 batters in his debut. He loses a 15-7 decision.
- 1917 - Babe Ruth is ejected from a game after walking the first hitter, Ray Morgan, complaining to the umpire throughout the at-bat, and then punching him. Ernie Shore (pictured) relieves and retires 26 in a row after Morgan is caught stealing. Shore is credited for many years with a perfect game.
- 1935 - Alabama Pitts, a former convict who got his chance in baseball in a media circus, gets two hits in his debut for the Albany Senators.
- 1971 - Rick Wise not only throws a no-hitter but also clouts two home runs in a dazzling two-way talent display.
- 2003 - Barry Bonds steals the 500th base of his career. He becomes the first major league player with 500 stolen bases and 500 home runs.
