- 1928 - Bob Meusel hits for the cycle for the third time, the first major leaguer to have done so.
- 1933 - Joe DiMaggio of the San Francisco Seals has his hitting streak snapped at 61 games by Ed Walsh Jr. DiMaggio falls 8 games shy of the longest hitting streak in minor league history.
- 1950 - Jim Russell homers from both sides of the plate in the same game, the first player ever to do that more than once in the major leagues.
- 1962 - Warren Spahn cracks his 31st career home run, setting a new National League record for a pitcher.
- 2010 - Matt Garza (pictured) throws the first no-hitter in the history of the Tampa Bay Rays.
