- 1903 - The rights to Sam Crawford are awarded to the Detroit Tigers in peace talks between the American League and National League.
- 1958 - Ángel Castro drives in 11 runs in a 26-10 romp by the Mazatlan Deer.
- 1984 - Harmon Killebrew, Don Drysdale and Luis Aparicio are elected to the Hall of Fame.
- 1991 - Glenn Davis is traded for Curt Schilling, Steve Finley and Pete Harnisch in what is considered to be one of the most lopsided deals ever.
- 2005 - Hiromitsu Kadota and Morimichi Takagi are among the electees for the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame this year.
- 2006 - A Special Committee on the Negro Leagues elects 17 new Hall of Famers thanks to new statistical research. Among those selected are José Méndez, Mule Suttles, Biz Mackey (pictured) and Frank Grant.
