- 1967 - Jim Lonborg tears the ligaments in his left knee while skiing and will not return to his old form.
- 1969 - Curt Flood (pictured) writes a letter to Commissioner Bowie Kuhn refusing to report to the Philadelphia Phillies after a trade.
- 1990 - The Montréal Expos trade Tim Raines to the Chicago White Sox for Ivan Calderón and Barry Jones.
