- 1921 - KDKA broadcasts the first baseball game on the radio. Harold Arlin does the play-by-play as the Pirates win, 8-5.
- 1975 - Bill Bonham (pictured) becomes the only pitcher in major league history to allow 7 straight hits to start a game. Mike Schmidt caps the stretch with a homer.
- 1999 - Mark McGwire smashes his 500th career home run, taking Andy Ashby deep. He is the 16th member of the 500 Home Run club.
- 2001 - The Indians match a major league record (last done in 1925) by overcoming a 12-run deficit. Jolbert Cabrera singles in Kenny Lofton with the winner.
- 2007 - Tom Glavine wins his 300th game in the major leagues. He is the fifth left-hander to win that many.
