- 1929 - Babe Ruth becomes the first player to hit 500 home runs in his career with a home run at League Park in Cleveland, Ohio.
- 1935 - The third East-West Game is played with the West winning, 11-8, over the East at Chicago's Comiskey Park. The key blow is an 11th-inning three-run homer by Mule Suttles (pictured) off Martin Dihigo.
- 1940 - Hanshin defeats Hankyu, 1 - 0 in just 56 minutes, a record for a nine-inning game that will stand until 1946.
- 1961 - The Vancouver Mounties steal nine bases in the 8th inning against the Salt Lake City Bees in a 10–2 win.
- 1991 - Chicago White Sox rookie hurler Wilson Alvarez throws a no-hitter when he defeats the Baltimore Orioles, 7-0, in his second big league start.
