Biographical Information[edit]

Ted Toles played briefly in the Negro Leagues. He appeared with the Pittsburgh Crawfords, Newark Eagles, Cleveland Buckeyes and Jacksonville Eagles from 1946-1947 and in 1949. Primarily a pitcher, he also appeared in the outfield. According to a 2007 baseball card, "Toles was noted for his fine fastball, deceptive off-speed pitches and prowess at the plate. Some contend he could have made the Majors as either a pitcher or a hitter." Despite this, Toles was a minor player for three years, never climbing above C ball.

In his later days, he was employed by the Mahoning Valley Scrappers as an usher.
