Biographical Information[edit]

Massachusetts native Ted Olson pitched five seasons in professional baseball from 1936 to 1940. He spent parts of three years in the major leagues and four in the minor leagues.

Olson was with the Boston Red Sox, making his debut on June 21, 1936. He appeared in 18 outings during his three up-and-down trips with Boston, ending up with a 1-1 record with a 7.18 ERA. Olson made his last appearance on September 13, 1938.

Ted spent all of his four trips to the minors in AA ball (then the highest minor league classification). He built a 29-33 minor league record with a 4.53 ERA while pitching 481 innings in 105 games. Olson's best season came in 1939 with the Louisville Colonels of the American Association, when he went 12-10 with a 4.23 ERA in 31 games.

After baseball, Olson was an independent insurance broker. He died following a heart attack on December 9, 1980, at his home in Weymouth, MA. He was 68 years of age.
