Chun-Ta Wu was a second baseman. His wife Ting-Yu Tseng was a member of Taiwan's national softball team.
Wu was 0 for 3 for Taiwan in the 1984 Amateur World Series, backing up Fu-Lien Wu (no relation) at shortstop and Cheng-Chin Hong at third base. He also was with Taiwan for the 1984 Olympics. When the Chinese Professional Baseball League was formed in 1990, Wu was an initial member of the Brother Elephants, having previously played for Brother Hotel as an amateur. Wu hit .253/.325/.300 in 1990, but fell to .219/.261/.294 in 1991, the second-lowest average by a regular in the CPBL that year. He spent his last three years as a backup, batting .178/.250/.275 in 1992, .177/.243/.258 in 1993 and .221/.276/.239 in 1994 to end his career with no homers in 784 AB.
Overall, Wu hut .223/.282/.277 with 175 hits in 5 seasons in the CPBL. He stole 31 bases in 47 tries and fielded .945.
