Tampa Krewes

From BR Bullpen

The Tampa Krewes were a new member in the 1928 Southeastern League. They were 41-33 in the first half, finishing third, but fell to 31-43 and last in the second half. Overall, they scored 629 runs and allowed 638. Art E. Sweeney (5-5, 2.74) was their top pitcher, while OF Cy Cashion (.371/~.449/.635, 17 triples) was the top offensive force. Cashion failed to win the batting title because he lacked the requisite number of plate appearances. The team became the Tampa Smokers in 1929, reviving the name used by Tampa's previous pro baseball club.
