Talk:Steve Larkin
I met Steve Larkin in the summer of 1967 while working a summer job at a GE warehouse in Valley Forge, PA. An interesting guy. When I found out he had pitched a couple of games in the majors, I got him to open up a bit. I asked him what it was like the first time he stepped on the mound for the Tigers. He said, "It was hard to breath!" He said he always felt he could make it in the majors. But soon after his second appearance, he felt something "go" in his arm. He never fully recovered from that, he said. Unfortunately, after being around him for those several summer months, it became apparent that he was battling some personal demons that, I guess, he never conquered. He, like so many ballplayers who fail to make it, spent a lot of time wondering "what might have been." 208.59.89.56 13:49, 14 September 2007 (EDT)
