Talk:Starling Marte
I wouldn't say the 2015 Pirates outfield was one of the best ever - OPS+ of 144 for McCutchen, 113 for Marte, 92 for Polanco. That's not even one of the best Pirates outfields ever - in 1990, you had Bonds (172), Bonilla (132) and Van Slyke (132). Marte and Polanco are very good defenders but so were Bonds and Van Slyke. How about 1971? Stargell at 185, Clemente at 143 and the best right field arm ever possibly and Al Oliver at 113. Just a couple samples. There's lots more like when Pgh. had two Hall of Fame outfielders in Clarke/Wagner (1902), Carey/Cuyler (early 1920s), Cuyler/P. Waner (briefly), more Clemente/Stargell... - --Mischa (talk) 12:09, 18 July 2016 (EDT)
