Talk:Ron Fairly

From BR Bullpen

I've mentioned this before but haven't heard comments one way or another, but adjusted OPS+ strikes me as being horribly redundant. OPS+ means "adjusted OPS" - therefore, there is no such thing as "adjusted OPS+". Am I the only one who has an opinion on this? - --Mischa 09:12, 1 December 2006 (EST)

You're absolutely correct on "adjusted OPS+". I just haven't really noticed it. --Just me 10:09, 1 December 2006 (EST)

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I thought that you started with OPS, and then adjusted it for park factors (Adjusted OPS), and then further normalized it (Adjusted OPS+). -Randy 12:34 1 December 2006 (EST)

Carl Fairly is mentioned in the text as Ron's father. However, when I do a Google search for him, I find practically nothing. This seems strange for a guy who apparently played minor league baseball for 12 years in the 1930's and 1940's and might have played service ball as well. Anyone know anything about him? Did he usually go by another first name? - Randy 20:58, 25 January 2009 (EST)

SABR has him as Carl C Fairly [1] --Jeff 23:03, 25 January 2009 (EST)
