Talk:Marty DeMerritt

I've seen the comment about his being pitching coach of the Giants in 199 before, but mlb.com doesn't list him as ever being a coach for the Giants. I thought Norm Sherry was the pitching coach in 1989. OTOH, my outdated (1994) Total Baseball does list him with the Giants in 1989. --Jeff 20:38, 7 August 2007 (EDT)

Regarding the above question... DeMerritt was the pitching coach at AAA Phoenix that year. Norm Sherry hurt his back and had surgery during the season. DeMerritt was promoted to San Francisco and served as a pitching coach for about 6 weeks. When Sherry returned from his surgery, DeMerritt stayed on with San Francisco for the rest of the season.

Did DeMerritt ever coach in the Korea Baseball Organization? I can't find record of it, but given that he was in South Korea, he deserves the category if he did do so. - --Mischa 12:26, 8 August 2007 (EDT)
