Talk:George Brett
Other records and notable achievements
Has record for career IBB in AL
Last player, one of six, to hit 20 doubles, triples, and home runs in one year
One of only five (who is sixth?) to do that: Brett (1979), Willie Mays (1957), Jeff Heath (1941), Jim Bottomley (1928), and Frank Schulte (1911).
30 game hit streak where he hit .467, by the way, if you look at all 30+ game hit streaks, only one other streak came with a batting average higher than this one, Ty Cobb's 40 game streak where he hit .476.
He only played in 117 games when he won the MVP, that's a record low for MVPs
I like to say he has the highest batting average in any full season since Ted hit .406 but it is interesting that George, as mentioned above, only played 117 games that year and Tony Gwynn played in almost as many, 110, the year of the strike when he hit .394.
Hit for the cycle twice, including hitting for the cycle and having a second home run in the same game on May 28, 1979.
3rd player in history with 3000 hits, 300 homers, 200 SB
LCS career records of 9 homers and .728 slugging
Third oldest player to win a batting title
Only player to reach 3000 hits in a 4 hit game, the fourth hit being his 3000th.
Received 488 of 497 votes to be inducted into hall of fame, fourth best vote percentage ever
Only player other than Ty Cobb to lead league in hits and triples three times
Tied for ALCS and LCS record of 4 runs in 1 game
Tied for LCS and has outright ALCS record of 3 home runs in 1 game
First player with 3,000 hits, 300 home runs, 600 doubles, 100 triples, 1,500 RBI and 200 stolen bases
