Talk:December 5
The 1959 item said Chico Fernandez was the first "black" to play for the Phillies and 2nd for the Tigers. This sounds both antiquated and incorrect. "Black" as a noun is now avoided, and it does not best describe Fernandez's ethnicity. Changed to "ethnic minority" but could say "Latino." -Nbierma
Are we sure he was the first ethnic minority though? They never had any light-skinned Cubans or Mexicans before then? Maybe dark-skinned is a better term than ethnic minority - the fact that a team so focused on "white" players signed someone is notable. - --Mischa (talk) 12:57, 2 December 2016 (EST)
"player of color"?
