Talk:Charley Pride

From BR Bullpen

I had heard that Charley Pride also played for Fond du Lac in 1953. Fond du Lac was a club in the Class D Wisconsin State League. Is this true ---? --- Bill O'Donnell

I wrote the Curtis Pride page mostly from an article in the Sacramento Bee. It made no mention of his father being Charley Pride, which is curious if its true. --Jeff 21:16, 6 February 2007 (EST)

Apparently, Curtis' father's name is John --Jeff 21:23, 6 February 2007 (EST)

Excuse me for coming up with that stuff about Curtis Pride. I deleted it. -- David -- 00:17 CST, 7 Feb. 2007

When did he serve in the military? - --Mischa 20:20, 9 February 2008 (EST)

One biography says "He joined the Negro American League, playing with the Memphis Red Sox. After playing ball for two years, Pride joined the U.S. Army, where he served for two years." The J.C. Hartman biography refers to them playing on the Army team in 1957. - Randy 20:30, 9 February 2008 (EST)

In addition to his 1960 Missoula stint, SABR lists him with Boise and Fond du Lac in 1953 and Nogales in 1955. --Jeff 13:55, 22 August 2008 (EDT)

Wikipedia says his brother also played negro league ball [1] --Jeff 15:27, 24 December 2011 (EST)

Wikipedia says lots of things, many of them false. Unless we have a real source, I'd leave it out. - --Mischa 20:32, 24 December 2011 (EST)
