Notice that, according to the data posted above, he was born in 1909. Look closely at his baseball card which say he was born in 1910. (anonymous post, Dec. 16, 2006)

In many cases, the birth date used at the time the player was active is incorrect (this is known in baseabll jargon as a player's 'baseball age' as opposed to his real age). The dates listed in the Bullpen are the most accurate that can be found, and are usually based on the player's original birth certificate as traced by members of SABR's Biographical Research Committee. --Philippe 08:16, 16 December 2006 (EST)
