Billy Martin was a drunk but he sure could manage.

Loved it when he kicked dirt at the umps and slapped those high priced, under worked players around....they needed a good slapping.

To whoever indicated that Bob Lemon and not Dick Howser succeeded Billy Martin in 1978, please note that this is not correct. Howser was interim manager of the Yankees before Lemon was hired. The rest is well-known. --Philippe 15:11, 15 November 2007 (EST)
