Biographical Information[edit]

Takashi Nemoto pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for a decade.

He set a Chiba Prefecture high school record with 55 consecutive shutout innings. He then pitched for Nippon Oil in the industrial leagues. The Taiyo Whales took him in the first round of the 1974 NPB draft. He allowed two runs in 4 2/3 IP for them in 1975 then was 3-7 with a save and a 3.96 ERA in 34 games (17 starts) in 1976; his 69 walks (in 116 IP) were 7th in the Central League (between Tsuneo Horiuchi and Takenori Emoto). He faded to 2-2, 6.61 in 1977 and 1-2, 7.64 with a 1.82 WHIP in 1978.

He was then dealt to the Seibu Lions with Tatsuo Uzawa for Mitsuo Motoi. He pitched poorly with Seibu: 0-1, 7.43 in 1979; 0-1, 6.59 in 1980; 1-0, 2.70 in 1981; 0-1, Sv, 4.05 ERA in 1982; no runs but 8 baserunners in 4 2/3 IP in 1983 and four runs in 4 1/3 IP in 1984. Nemoto finished his career 7-14 with two saves, a 5.08 ERA and more walks (151) than whiffs (148) in 260 2/3 IP over 113 games (28 starts).

He later was a batting practice pitcher and scout for Seibu.
