Biographical Information[edit]
Takao Nakano pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.
Nakano was signed by the Takahashi Unions in 1954, and he pitched 8 games with a 4.74 ERA in his rookie year. He was 7-7 with a 2.82 ERA in 1955, then he went 11-19 with a 3.10 ERA in 51 games in 1956. Nakano led the Pacific League with 17 homers allowed, ranking 2nd in starts (2 behind Yukio Shimabara) and 3rd in losses (tied with Shiro Ito).. When Takahashi dissolved after the 1954 season, Nakano signed with the Toei Flyers, and he had a 4.72 ERA in 32 appearances in 1957. He only pitched 3 games in 1958, then he announced his retirement.
Overall, Nakano was 19-32 with a 3.33 ERA, struck out 233 and pitched 465 innings in 5 years in NPB.
