Biographical Information

Taishi Nakagawa played high school baseball under the coaching of his father. He hit 32 homers in high school and was also timed at 88 mph as a pitcher. The Rakuten Golden Eagles took him in the 2nd round of the 2008 NPB draft. In his ni-gun debut, he hit .206 with one homer (a grand slam) and 30 errors at the hot corner in 2009. On September 22, 2010, he made his big league debut. He got his first hit the same day, a single off Masaru Takeda. He was 3 for 27 with 12 strikeouts that year in the Pacific League. He still made the Japanese national team roster for the 2010 Intercontinental Cup.
