Biographical Information[edit]
Taisei Irie has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Irie represented Japan in the 2016 BFA U18 Baseball Championship, and the Yokohama BayStars selected him in the first round of the 2020 NPB draft; the scout was Mikinori Wachiuma. He was 0-4 with a 7.85 ERA in 2021, and he missed most of his first season due to right shoulder injury.[1] Irie then collected 10 holds with a 3.00 ERA in 57 appearances in 2022, and he had a 8.78 ERA in 9 games for the Canberra Cavalry in the 2022-2023 ABL. He went 1-1 with 7 holds and a 2.70 ERA in 2023, but he underwent right shoulder surgery and missed the entire 2024 season.
Irie's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 98.1 mph, a slider, cutter, curveball and a forkball.
