Biographical Information[edit]
Tadanori Murakami was a catcher who represented Japan in the 1975 Intercontinental Cup, 1976 Amateur World Series, 1978 Amateur World Series, 1979 Intercontinental Cup, 1981 Intercontinental Cup, 1982 Amateur World Series and 1984 Amateur World Series. He played for Nippon Paper in the Industrial League after high school.
He led the 1975 Cup in homers (3) and RBI (11) while he tied Ron Hassey for the most hits (14). In the 1978 Series, he hit .182/.357/.182 and handled 67 chances error-free behind the dish. During the 1984 Series, he batted .387/.417/.677 with 9 RBI in 11 games, mostly playing DH while leading Japan's offense. He coached for Japan in the 2002 Intercontinental Cup then managed them in the 2003 Baseball World Cup.
