Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Tadaharu Sakai played in Nippon Professional Baseball from 1990 to 2003 and from 2005 to 2006, usually in a reserve role. Perhaps his best campaign was 2001 with the Chiba Lotte Marines, when he slashed .266/.318/.331 with 3 home runs, 34 RBI and 99 hits in 125 games. Overall, he batted .248/.296/.321 with 12 home runs and 181 RBI in 1,034 games over 16 seasons.

He was traded to the Chiba Lotte Marines with Yasushi Yamamoto and Toru Nimura for Kazutoshi Higuchi, Yukinaga Maeda and Sadaharu Hiranuma in 1995 or 1996.
