Biographical Information[edit]
Taber Lee is the younger brother of Travis Lee.
Taber led his high school to 3A state titles in baseball and football in 1998 and graduated the next year.
In 2000, Lee hit .156/.235/.222 as a freshman. He improved to .344/.394/.394 as a sophomore and stole 24 bases. Lee made the Mountain West Conference All-Conference team at shortstop. He batted .321 and slugged .394 for the Torrington Twisters and Baseball America named him the top prospect in the New England Collegiate League. He made the league's All-Star team at shortstop. Taber produced at a .355/.448/.416 clip in 2002 and was again selected to the Mountain West All-Conference team at shortstop. The Pittsburgh Pirates picked Lee in the third round of the 2002 amateur draft; it was felt by the team's fans to be an overdraft.
Lee debuted professionally with the Williamsport Crosscutters and hit .244/.352/.319 in 40 games. In 2003, Taber was with the Hickory Crawdads and batted .247/.349/.354 in 115 games. The next year, Lee hit .248/.324/.355 for the Lynchburg Hillcats. He split 2005 between Lynchburg (.241/.372/.334 in 86 games) and the Altoona Curve (.203/.273/.329 in 24 contests). Lee did nothing to boost his stock in 2006 - he hit .216/.257/.314 in 46 games for Altoona and .218/.271/.315 in 44 for the Indianapolis Indians, now relegated to the role of utility infielder. In 2007, Lee's batting line was .235/.348/.276 for Altoona, playing 89 games as a backup infielder. The Pirates did not keep him around after that year.
For 2009, Lee signed with Reggio Emilia in Italy. He was their leadoff hitter and shortstop on Opening Day, going 0 for 3 in a 1-0 loss. He had 3 assists.
