The 1909 T206 Honus Wagner is considered the most valuable baseball card in the world. In 2000, the card sold at an eBay auction for a record $1.265 million, to become the first sports card to break the million dollar mark. On August 16, 2021, one sold at auction for $6.6 million to reclaim the title of most expensive sports card. In the interim, its value had been topped by a 1952 Mickey Mantle card and a Wayne Gretzky rookie hockey card, as well as a Mike Trout card issued in only a single copy.

Although an estimated 50 to 200 were distributed to the public originally, few have survived to the present day. The T206 set is the most sought-after set of prewar baseball cards; in addition to this, Wagner, who was opposed to smoking, objected having a card in his likeness in the set and asked that his card be removed. Only a few copies were distributed to the public before the company obeyed the request, hence the card's extremely high value.

Wayne Gretzky and Todd McFarlane have both owned examples of this card, ans well as Arizona Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick.
