Biographical Information[edit]
Utility infielder Susumu Aikawa played in Nippon Professional Baseball for 6 years.
Aikawa was signed by the Chunichi Dragons in 1966, and he was 3-for-15 in his rookie year. He played 34 games with a .255/.317/.473 batting line in 1967, but he slumped to .156/.204/.378 in 1968. The Dragons then traded him with Naruhide Sugi to the Kintetsu Buffaloes for Takeo Yoshizawa, but he struggled again as he was 7-for-57 in 1969. He recorded a .193/.224/.314 batting line in 57 games in 1970, then he announced his retirement after hitting .203/.232/.405 in 1971.
Overall, Aikawa hit .189/.223/.353 with 74 hits and 17 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
