Biographical Information[edit]
Glenna "Sue" Kidd was a star pitcher in the AAGPBL. After fine-tuning her pitching skills during the 1949 season with the Springfield Sallies developmental team, Kidd spent the 1950 season with the Muskegon Lassies, Kalamazoo Lassies, Peoria Redwings, and finally the South Bend Blue Sox. She remained with the Blue Sox until the league folded after the 1954 season.
Kidd helped the Blue Sox win the AAGPBL championship in 1951 and 1952. After a six-player walkout at the end of the 1952 regular season left the Blue Sox with only 12 players on their roster, Kidd stepped forward as a two-way player for the playoffs. She patrolled right field in the postseason when she wasn't on the mound. Perhaps the finest moment of her career came in Game Two of the 1952 championship series when she pitched 8+ innings against the Rockford Peaches and stroked a walk-off single in the 12th inning.
Kidd finished her career with a 47-45 record and 2.49 ERA.
