Stratford is a city in southwestern Ontario on the Avon River. Both the city and the river were named after Stratford-upon-Avon, England, birthplace of Shakespeare, and it hosts an annual festival of Elizabethan theater. It is approximately 25 miles west of Kitchener, ON.
