Biographical Information[edit]

Stewart Hillman pitched in the Olympics and in the minors.

Hillman was 1-0 with a 5.14 ERA for Team Canada in the 1988 Baseball World Cup despite 21 hits in 14 IP; only Frank Humber and Barry Parisotto had better ERAs for Canada. He remained with Canada for the 1988 Olympics. The San Francisco Giants took him in the 23rd round of the 1989 amateur draft. He made his pro debut with the Pocatello Giants, going 4-8 with a 4.77 ERA; he walked only 13 in 88 2/3 IP. He tied Eric Kuhlman and Scott Gordon for the most losses in the Pioneer League, was second in IP (88 2/3), was third in hits allowed (105), was second in runs allowed (60) and was 7th in strikeouts (70, between Tim Pugh and Olympic teammate Parisotto). He began 1990 with the Clinton Giants (1-5, Sv, 3.32 in 17 G) then moved to the California Angels chain, pitching for the Palm Springs Angels (0-1, 15 R in 10 1/3 IP) and Quad Cities Angels (1-1, 3.68 in 7 G). He finished his pro career 6-15 with a save and a 4.56 ERA in 42 games (25 starts). In 189 2/3 IP, he allowed 208 hits and 49 walks while fanning 144.
