Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Steve Reich played for the High Desert Mavericks in the Baltimore Orioles system in 1996, going 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA in two starts. He also played for Team USA in the 1993 Summer Universiade.
He was also 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup, losing to Australia; the US won a Silver Medal. He served in the military and fought during the Balkan conflicts of the 1990s.
He later fought in Afghanistan, where he was killed in action during a rescue mission on June 28, 2005.
