Biographical Information[edit]
Speed Walker appeared in two major league games, both on the same day, for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1923, when he played first base on September 15th. The Cards' regular first baseman that year was Jim Bottomley.
Three major leaguers (through 2007) are remembered with the first name "Speed". They all broke in between 1909 and 1923. The four other players nicknamed "Speed" or "Speedy" broke in between 1908 and 1927.
He played minor league ball from 1921 to 1935. He was with Danville for part or all of each season from 1923 to 1927, and hit .332 in the part of 1923 that he was with Danville.
