Biographical Information[edit]

Si Pauxtis was an Ivy Leaguer who earned a law degree and was a football All-American.

He first attended Lebanon Valley College, and then enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania law school, where he earned an LLB in 1910. He played football in 1907 and played catcher in 1908 on the varsity baseball team.

He made his debut in the majors while still a law student. He appeared in four games near the end of the 1909 season. The regular catcher that year for the 1909 Reds was Larry McLean.

By 1911 he was already a coach, first at Dickinson College (both football and baseball in 1911-12), then at Penn (football from 1913-15 and 1930-38) and Pennsylvania Military College (now known as Widener University) from 1916-29 (baseball each year except 1920) and 1939-46 (unclear if he coached baseball any of those years).

In addition he practiced law in Pennsylvania for 50 years.
