Biographical Information[edit]

Shungo Fukunaga pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years. He also pitched in the Japanese indy leagues before and after his NPB career and spent time in Mexico and Taiwan.

Fukunaga pitched for the Osaka 06 Bulls from 2013 to 2014, and he went to the Tokushima Indigo Socks from 2015 to 2016. He was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 6th round in the 2016 NPB draft, but he didn't get many chances with the big club. Fukunaga only pitched 7 games combined, and the Tigers released him after the 2020 season. He returned to the Indigo Socks in 2021, and he went to Mexico in 2022. Fukunaga's ERA was 4.35 in 3 games for the Generales de Durango, then he pitched an inning with a run allowed tor the Mariachis de Guadalajara. He signed with the TSG Hawks in 2023, and he pitched 4 games with a 1.96 ERA in the Taiwanese minors. Fukunaga then became a minor league coach for the Hawks in 2024.
