Biographical Information[edit]

Shun Takaichi pitched in the NPB for 5 years.

Takaichi had a 11-games winning streak in the Tohto University Base Ball League in 2005, and he won the MVP that season. He led his school in beating the Tohoku Fukushi University in the 2005 All-Japan University Baseball Championship Series, and he was named the MVP. The Yakult Swallows selected him in the first round of the 2006 NPB draft, and he went 2-4 with a 2.95 ERA while leading the NPB Farm Leagues with 66 strikeouts and 36 walks in 2007. He allowed 8 runs in 4 innings with the big club, and he only pitched a game in 2008. Takaichi struggled again in 2009 as he had a 9.64 ERA in 3 games, then he recorded a 4.63 ERA in 8 relief outings in 2010. He had a 2.67 ERA in 26 games in the minors in 2011, but he allowed 6 runs in 2 1/3 innings with the big club and the Swallows released him.

Overall, Takaichi was 0-2 with a 8.35 ERA, struck out 21 and pitched 32 1/3 innings in 5 seasons in the NPB.
