Biographical Information[edit]
Shota Ohmine has played in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team. His brother in NPB pitcher Yuta Omine.
The Chiba Lotte Marines drafted Ohmine in the first round of the 2009 NPB draft. He spent the first five seasons of his career in the NPB Farm Leagues, and also represented Japan in the 2010 Intercontinental Cup. The Okinawa native debuted in 2014 and hit .208/.231/.458 in 16 games. Ohmine struggled in 2015 as his batting line was .120/.207/.120, and bounced back a little with a .236/.257/.319 batting line in 2016. He played a career-high 91 games in 2017, but his batting line was still terrible .206/.255/.336. Ohmine only had 10 appearances in 2018, then announced his retirement after the 2018 season.
Overall, Ohmine had hit .210/.254/.324 in 5 seasons in NPB.
