Biographical Information[edit]

Shogo Noda pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.

Noda was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the third round of the 2015 NPB draft, and he joined their bullpen as a rookie. He collected four holds with a 3.93 ERA in his rookie year. Noda improved to a 1.98 ERA in 38 appearances in 2017, and he made it onto Japan's roster for the 2017 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. Noda pitched 1/3 of an inning against South Korea in the opener, then pitched a shutout inning with 2 strikeouts (to Cheng-Fei Lin and Fu-Lin Kuo) versus Chinese Taipei. Japan beat South Korea in the Gold Medal game.

The Fukuoka native pitched a career-high 58 appearances in 2018 and notched 19 holds with a 3.51 ERA. He ranked 9th in the Pacific League in appearances (14 behind Ren Kajiya) and 10th in holds (18 behind Naoki Miyanishi). Noda only pitched one game in the final stage of the 2018 PLCS; he walked 3 with 2 runs allowed in Game 3. He only pitched 23 games with a 3.66 ERA in 2019, and spent nearly the entire 2020 season in the NPB Farm Leagues. Noda then announced his retirement after the 2020 season, and became a professional boat racer.

Overall, Noda was 4-1 with a 3.09 ERA, collected 26 holds, struck out 92 and pitched 116 1/3 innings in 5 years in NPB.
