Biographical Information[edit]

Shogo Kimura played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 14 years.

Kimura won the MVP of the Baseball Association In Aichi in 2001, and the Yokohama BayStars selected him in the 11th round of the 2002 NPB draft. He didn't get many chances in Yokohama, and he was traded with Hideki Kishimoto to the Hiroshima Carp for Yasuhiro Oyamada after the 2007 season. Kimura hit .229/.275/.229 in 2008, and he only got 13 at-bats as Hiroshima's main pinch-runner in 2009 (13 R in 69 G, 4 SB, 4 CS). He had a .324/.378/.493 batting line in 2010, and he played 106 games with a .259/.301/.287 batting line in 2011.

He slumped to .152/.235/.196 in 2012, but he soon bounced back and had a .325/.389/.360 batting line in 2013. He recorded a .261/.280/.324 batting line in 2014, then his batting line was .269/.297/.355 in 2015. He announced that he would became a free agent after that season, and the Seibu Lions signed him. Kimura played 38 games with a .221/.262/.263 batting line in 2016, but he was 1-for-6 in 2017 then he announced his retirement. He then became a professional cricketer.

Overall, Kimura hit .261/.304/.318 with 294 hits and 3 homers in 14 seasons in NPB.
