Biographical Information[edit]
Shinjiro Iguchi was a powerful slugger in high school and college. He led his high school to back-to-back championships at the National High School Baseball Championship in 1921 and 1922. He was the clean up hitter at Waseda University.
Later, he promoted amateur baseball in Japan - especially nankyuu, a game played with a rubber baseball, which was invented by Sakae Suzuka in 1913. It is also known as kusa-yakyuu.
Iguchi was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998.
