Biographical Information[edit]

Shih-Wei Tsai caught in the Taiwan Major League and for the Chinese Taipei national baseball team.

Tsai represented Taiwan in the 1997 Asian Championship. The Chianan Luka drafted him in the first round of the 1997 TML draft. Tsai only played 10 games in his rookie year, and recorded a .187/.235/.226 batting line in 1998. He batted .234/.319/.313 in the next year, and the Luka decided to turn him into a pitcher. Tsai pitched very well in 2000, had a 3.89 ERA in 29 relief outings, and participated in the All-Star Game. Tsai was converted back to a batter in 2001, but his batting line was still terrible .218/.299/.293. When the two leagues merged in 2003, Tsai decided to retire instead of joining CPBL.

Overall, Tsai had hit .220/.288/.287 in six seasons in the TML.
